Friends of the Library Annual Tree Lighting

Holiday Spirit in the village

Holiday spirit in the village of philadelphia

Join us for a magical community celebration at the Annual Friends of the Library Tree Lighting Ceremony, happening Sunday, December 14th at the Philadelphia American Legion, 58 Main Street, at 4:30 PM! This year’s theme is Reindeer Roundup, and we invite everyone—kids, teens, and adults—to wear your most festive, fun, or antler-inspired headgear. Enjoy an evening filled with door prizes, holiday games, a cozy story read-aloud, and free cookies and cocoa to warm your hands and hearts. Don’t forget to take part in the Friends Group’s yearly fundraiser, where they’ll be selling raffle tickets for gift baskets and prizes donated by several wonderful local businesses right here in Philadelphia, NY. Come celebrate the season, gather with neighbors, and help support your library in the most festive way!

Holiday Cards!

We are partnering with the North Country Library System to collect holiday cards! Last year, area libraries collected more than 5500 cards to send to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Meals on Wheels, and other community organizations.

We have blank cards here at the library. All you need to do is sign your name and leave the card at the desk with the librarian. Do you have unused Christmas cards at home? Please consider signing a few and dropping them off. (You can leave them in the book drop!)

This is a great activity to do with your book club, your children, or your Sunday school class!

We need to have the cards by December 2nd so that we can send them to NCLS for distribution.
